Feather Falls

She leaves the beach and heads for the sand
He fixes his tie and cues up the band
He’s tapping a toe and swirling two hands
She’s flying, she’s late for the plans that she planned

He struts the stage and shows off his whites
She flaps her wings through the dark of the night
She’s lost in the clouds. The chilled air takes bites
He’s spinning pirouettes, an old spotlight

Feathers fall in from the distance
Feathers floating with resistance
Snowflakes fall, deny existence
Something always glows

Showing up when it needs to
Leaving when it’s time to go
Brilliance leaks out of an old leaf, sets the pace and starts the show

She touches the ground and runs for the door
He’s twirling in time with what’s next in-store
He’s balanced up high, juggling, and more
She pushes through crowds of nonsense galore

He scans the hill, and under the sky
She’s wiping the clouds, or tears, from her eyes
She looks up to sees two greens way up high
He dives out and laughs as he starts to fly

Snowflakes fall, deny existence
Struts the stage with no resistance
Tailing tie out in the distance
Four feet float away
