Zebra’s Plea (1/2018)

I leave on a crosswalk
Hidden in the trees.
Bark is black and white
So they won’t see me.

Hide me on a mountain.
Hide my rosey cheeks.
I’ll be up so high
That they don’t see me.

Black and white, not hiding.
Words, like me, move gently.
Timelines lie.
We live a little differently.
Patiently.

My lines aren’t straight.
My nights are days.
It’s up or down or black or white.
No in between today.
I’d be just fine if I could
Find myself a little grey.

Need to get a little grey.

I jump in an old frame.
Kicking by the sea.
Photos, black and white
So they don’t see me.

Hide me in the paper.
Hide me – A,B,C.
Crosswords, black and white.
They’ll never see me.

My lines aren’t straight.
My nights are days lying gently.
Patiently.

Give me a little grey.
Please, give me a little grey.
Today.
