Morning Drive (12/2018)

I wake up,
Pour warm, iced, coffee.
Go for my drive.
It’s the morning.

Windows down,
the fresh air suits me.
Turn up my songs,
it’s my morning.

I’ve seen children running around.
I’ve seen people laughing out loud.
I’ve seen balloons out in the distance.
Do they see me on the ground?

Cacti bloom, water moves,
brand new shoes and I move too.
The sun slept in, so it could be a long day.

All these signs,
the stopping slows me.
Missed my target,
but, I’ve got all morning.

Take my time
and do what I need.
My life is today,
and it’s still morning.
