Don’t Say Maybe (4/2021)

I don’t know why it showed up that day,
a creek and a canyon may have altered my way.
I don’t know, something changed.

Looking back, it really wrecked me
Tossed my course to lost and alone
Afraid meets dethroned
Jumped on a plane to Europe
And I think I dropped it off
Usually the feeling’s still there
Fight or face it

There’s no racing to the top if we’re walking together.
Don’t say maybe,
unless it’s you get up now.
It can all come back, I just don’t know how.

At times we drop our minds
to zip around a while,
then circle back slowly through what got left behind
breathing deep and facing what we find.
Letting what happens happen.

I don’t know why it showed up that day.
A talk and a tattoo may have filled in my way.
I don’t know, something changed.
