The Pattern

At night, at night
I sleep, I write
I write a thought for you

I go, I go.
You say, “I know,
you know I thought of you.”

Underneath screens, leaves breathe
Shaking out west
Over and over and over again
Always earlier west, and we all really need this

I write and write,
then think at night.
Tonight I thought of you.

You know. I know.
I say, “let’s go,
I’ve got a thought for you.”

Over and over and over and over and over and
always shaking out west.
