Microwaving Memories

There’s no microwaving good memories
The good stuff takes good time
Slowly boiling the right words
Rolling out real rhymes

I wouldn’t microwave your memories
Too quick, too hot, they’ll spin
Patience, music, wooden spoons
Dicing up your wins

Planting, growing, digging, grinding, cooking
Winning, losing, long nights, all day, looking
Precarious ingredients
Making time for time
Leftovers for morning
Reheating peaceful days
Just to watch them bubble
Smiling back at me
Just to watch them bubble

Oh man, microwave a memory
Not uniformly warm
Rushing, worried late at night
Appetite for storms

So I wouldn’t microwave a memory
Packaged, precooked life
Sweat, tears, love, and sharpened knives
Cooking up real smiles
